I'm glad to see someone appreciates that marvelous movie "Henry Orient."
It's the funniest rendition of an incompetant but enthusiastic seducer
I've ever seen.

It also had wonderful Phyllis Thaxter in it and a beautifully snobby
Angela Lansbury.

I need help on a Chart of Boston Harbor I bought and would like to sell.
It is in book
form and opens up and unfolds to show a chart and sailing directions of
Boston Harbor. It is dated 1887 and was published by S. Thaxter & Son.
Where would I
go to sell this?

And just to add to that, if you enjoyed that song you should also check
out RT's electric playing.

The "Watching The Dark" triple CD box set is a great place to start -
expensive but I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Alternatively, the "Richard Thompson, Guitar, Vocal" album is also a
good place to start.

Both albums feature a mixture of album tracks and live performances from
various points in his career (although the second album is quite old now
so doesn't feature any of his more recent stuff.

HI all,

This from London's Evening Standard Sept 18 1998

AB Airlines is planning to start new Trans Atlantic servicves to the US from
March 1999.

They have applied for slots at London Heathrow and London Gatwick with a view
to flying two daily routes to New York's Kennedy Airport and one from Gatwick
to Chicargo O'hare.

The routes would be flown with B767 aircraft, in a 2 class layout

AB would be the 1st airline to offer direct flights from LGW to Chicargo.

AB has established itself in the past 5 years on four European routes from
Gatwick to Berlin, Lisbon, Nice and Shannon and also from Stansted and
Birmingham to Shannon.

AB already operates 90 slots a week from LGW, and the slot committe sit next
week to allocate next years slots. So a decision is expected soon.

I have a some AB Airlines images on my page, if anyone would like to see the
livery of AB Airlines. They are in the "2 Engine" section.

All the best

Subject: BA/AA Slot Wars with Delta
Newsgroup: alt.travel.uk.air via fox1

Delta has asked the European Commision to increase the number of slots at LHR
and LGW that BA/AA will have to give up.

Delta claims that 600 slots will need to be made available to accomodate the
announced competitive services from the other US Carriers, including Delta.

The EC proposes that 267 slots should be given up, the US has ruled that 336
slots would be required by US carriers.

I have a feeling that this will rumble on for a while, and result in a nasty
taste in some one's mouth when it is all over.

Does anyone know of a carrier going to wall as a direct result of an alliance
by competitors. Official or otherwise.

Though not quite the same (definatly not official), I can only think of Laker
(over 10 years ago), which I believed collapsed as a result of other airlines
lowering prices to unsustainable levels, which Laker did not have the finances
to withstand.

All the best

Using back ticks I am able to capture the output of a grep command
containing a scalar variables as the search argument and the filename:

  @hits = `grep -i ^$query  $fname`;

I can't figure out how to pass a multiple word query with quotes; i.e.,
I want to execute:

  grep -i -e 'word1 word2' filename

What is the correct syntax to send the quotes with the expanded variable
inside?
